As a parent you learn how to make the most of this very important stage of development. Babies learn more in the first year of life than any other time in their life so we give you lots of information on how to promote this learning to create the best foundation for later learning.
These activities offer plenty of tummy time and sensory stimulation (auditory, visual and vestibular). You will learn different massages, gentle movements and dances. You will learn how to develop your baby's strength and flexibility. Our BabyROO equipment is setup to provide opportunities to enjoy the feeling of being moved and to teach you some activities to do at home with your child
In precious quality time with your baby, you learn how to provide activities helping your infant to learn about themselves and their world, so that their ’computer’ brain can amass important information on which later learning is so dependent.

This class, designed for those children coming up to the 2yr mark encompasses the transition from bi-lateral (both sides of the body working together) to lateral (independent) movement. In this period, each hemisphere of the brain will learn to control the movements of each side of the body, independently. The two year old year is an important year of change in behaviour speech and fine motor skills. Specific activities are introduced at this level and are a mandatory part of all equipment time. Often they are also a part of mat time. What this means is that we introduce specific movements that encourage the child to pass objects from one side of their body to another (crossing the mid-line) and also to get them to do one thing with one limb and something different with the other limb which is fully explored during activities with musical instruments. Our classes are also becoming more structured as this is the time for children to start learning limits and to improve their concentration.
Now development is really bounding forward. Sessions at this age are geared for the development of sensory integration and the consequent laterality (throwing a ball with one arm is being lateral). For this reason, a preferred hand (or foot) is encouraged in all one hand (or foot) activities. Achieving laterality is very useful for things like riding a tricycle, peeling a banana and washing up. We are now encouraging an increase in the comprehension of auditory memory skills from one instruction to two and likewise in the visual memopry through more advanced fun activities with thier parents. The crocodile patterning will be now more or less a normal part of massage time. All areas where instructions are required are increased in complexity to allow for the development of improved auditory and visual memory, imperative for 'survival' at school. Repetition is vital for this development at all ages. The activities at GymbaROO help to lay the groundwork for early reading / writing and preschool / school. As their control over all muscle groups is strengthened and fine tuned, they can start concentrating on language skills. Mat time activities at GymbaROO are aimed at fine tuning these skills, with more challenging tasks. Their ball skills are far better and their hand / eye coordination is more focused. During this course, we keep the same routine as with the previous course, while increasing the concentration time and the complexity and number of instructions. At this stage, they also start to learn to work in groups, to line up and to follow the leader. The sessions include counting, memory activities and visual exercises. Of course, there is still the all important large equipment time where by now they love climbing ladders, jumping on trampolines and hanging upside down. It is during this period that they are starting to consolidate all the previously learned skills and fine tuning them to be ready for pre-school.

This class is designed for school readiness. Sessions include the usual large equipment circuit where children strengthen muscles and improve coordination and balancing. They also do aerobic, dance, cross pattern activities as well as perceptual motor programs and specific word visualisation and auditory stimulation.
An example exercise for Balance: Balance on one leg, with leg extended behind and opposite arm extended forward.
The aim of the session is to ensure that children have or are developing all areas required for successful learning at school. It is a very important year for school readiness.
